Summer is just around the corner and that’s exciting! However for a lot of people it suddenly is the realization that that bikini body needs to be obtained if we have let ourselves go over winter.

With these realizations comes an urgent need for an immediate weight loss tool.

If you have made the decision to stay on the health track following a meal plan, then sometimes going to a restaurant can be a pretty big challenge.

Make healthier choices to enjoy your next meal out:

1. Start with a salad in order to not overeat

Dining out means many options and the portion size will be bigger and the amount of vegetables on your plate are usually smaller than it is when you are eating at home. In order to not overeat and to make sure that you still get all the nourishing nutrients from your veggies, always start your dinner or lunch with a salad.

2. Decide in advance to avoid temptations

When eating healthy, or more specifically following a meal plan, dining out with friends who love unhealthy food or calorie rich cocktails, can be quite a challenge. The first thing to do is to make a decision in advance about what and how much you are going to eat. Don’t wait until you are in the restaurant with all the distractions and temptations around you.

3. Mindful eating and know when to star and stop eating

How you eat is as important what you eat. Chew your food. Of course, being around your friends will make this one harder. But focus your attention on chewing. Stay present and discover what your food tastes like, what it smells like, the texture and so on. Breathe and take small breaks while talking to your friends.

4. Control your liquid calories and choose water

Liquid calories can be present in any form – alcohol, juice or soda – and their impact can be enormous. Scientific evidence confirms that although such liquids count as calories, the body doesn’t detect them the same way as it would detect solid food. Therefore, choose wisely. Preferably, water, lemon water, sparkling water or tea.

5. Go for organic options to avoid toxicity

I know, this is a tricky one. However, these days it’s getting easier than it was, say ten years ago. The awareness for locally produced food is increasing. So to avoid toxicity and support a healthy product, try to always select organic restaurants, or options on the menu.
