3 Essential Steps To Set and Reach Your Goals

Living a life without setting goals has been said to be like sailing a ship without a planned course.

The process of creating goals helps you choose where you want to be in life. By knowing what you want to accomplish, you know what you have to focus on and put your efforts into.

However, you need to avoid common mistakes that make you get off track and give up, as you are on your way to achieving your goal.

As 2016 is coming to an end, it´s time to look back, sum up and see what actually happened during this year. By starting to look back, before you run in to the excitement of writing your goal for 2017, you’ll quickly spot the distractions that can easily lead you astray.

How to achieve a goal?

  1. First of all, decide in what area of your life you want to make your changes.  After that, the easiest way to remember, is to take it month by month. Say for example that you emphasize your workout routines and way of eating. Write everything down, as this will be the base, which you will use to create your goal in the next step.
  2. Go through January to March and evaluate these months. Look at photos and have a look in your calendar in order to take yourself back to these times. What did you do in terms of exercise and what did you eat?
  3.  Continue, by going through the different months in the same way and add as much value as possible. For example, if February was a month where you worked out a lot, you went to the gym three times a week and really started to create a healthy workout routine. Why did it work so well? What made you feel so motivated?

Contrary, if July was a month with a lot of food on the go, late nights out with fast food and less exercise. What made you lose your motivation?

By going through the year in this way, you are going to get an idea of what worked and what didn’t work. Additionally, it will be easier to identify situations and circumstances that in the first case made you fell off the wagon.

When you have reviewed all previous workout and nutrition related experiences from 2016, you have the basis for your next goal in 2017 and your chances of reaching it is way higher than before.
